Perspective

Recently I saw a short post that said:

I interviewed a woman who is terminally ill. So, I tried to delicately ask, “What is it like to wake up every morning and know that you are dying?” Well, she responded, “What is it like to wake up every morning and pretend that you are not?”

This short, but poignant statement really puts things in perspective. You have a woman laying in bed with a terminal illness and the world looks at her with a look of pity. However, many people, that are not terminally ill, do not truly live. They are stagnate with absolutely no personal or professional growth. In essence, they are pretending that they are not dead.

Are you getting up and just going through the motions day after day? Each day you wake up is a gift. Celebrate it! Each occasion you can spend time with a loved one or close friend, cherish it. Each time you have an opportunity staring you in the face, grab it. And, if you sit around waiting for your ship to come in and it never does, swim out to it!

If you are one of the many pretending to “not be dead,” get out there and do something. Take Control of your life and your own destiny. You have greatness within you. Let the world see it.
